Marya of the Wood

Did you accept your gifts today?
It has been very windy here in the Fields of Marigold Moon. When such windy conditions arise, it is an opportunity for Our Mother to share her gifts. For instance, this morning when I went out to greet the day and stock my feeding stations, I was met with freshly fallen pine cones and pine boughs. The pine cones were spread about upon the new-fallen snow like a painting on a fresh canvas. One bough was literally on the step of my summer kitchen and wood room.
I collected the pine cones and took a little pitch to chew while I went about my chores. I also collected the boughs, which will be perfect for a strong decoction later in the day. The pitch content is high right now which not only means higher in antioxidants and vitamins, it has a rich flavor as well
My ancestors chewed on pine needles to clean their teeth and freshen their breath. It is abrasive, which polishes the surface of the teeth, and it leaves your breath fresh. Along with the other conifers, White Pine makes an excellent oil and balm for healing skin issues and addressing dryness. Sprinkle a little in the water vessel on your wood stove for a unique, pleasant scent. And remember that pine cones make excellent fire starters.
It is important to perceive and truly inhabit your environment. I know my trees, which is vital to my existence. Depending on where you live, not all trees are safe for internal or external use. Please properly explore and identify all plants that you work with. Do not hesitate to ask questions and do good research. The benefits are immeasurable.
So, if you live amongst the Great White Pines, like I do in New Hampshire, make sure to go out and receive the gifts Our Mother has offered.
Be wild. Be well.
